Introduction: The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) developed by Zimet, Dahlem, et al (1988), is one of the instruments often used to measure the perception of social support from family, friends, and significant others in various populations, including patients with mental disorders such as schizophrenia. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) questionnaire in patients with schizophrenia. Methodology: This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken from outpatients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, as many as 30 samples, and measured using the MSPSS questionnaire. Results: The reliability of this instrument is very high, with a Cronbach’s alpha value of more than 0.9 and 12 valid items. Conclusion: The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) is a suitable instrument to assess perceived social support in patients with schizophrenia.
